Building to a Cure®

Outreach ProgramsWhat is Building to a Cure and why has Kimal decided to make this an annual program for Kimal and its fundraising partners which include; contractors, community members and vendors? Up until five years ago, we were probably like most companies: we'd get almost daily requests from organizations for money. Yes, we've always been responsive and generous; however, it occurred to us that writing several checks for $10, $20 and other various amounts was not only time-consuming, but each separate check could not have a large impact by itself . . . Now enters the "Building to a Cure" committee (volunteer associates at Kimal Lumber) who work very hard to make this a very successful fundraiser each year.

Who we donate money to must meet tough criteria some of which are; we want to be sure that most of the money is used for the cause it's intended and a certain amount of it needs to stay in the local community and have local benefits.

We're proud to say that "All Children's Hospital" and "Ronald McDonald House" meet those tough standards and we now have a "Home" with them and for the foreseeable future; we will be raising money for these great organizations.

Outreach ProgramsThe History of "Building to a Cure®"

  • In 2002, we trademarked the "Building to a Cure"® name, and dedicated ourselves to raising money exclusively for All Children's Hospital and Ronald McDonald House.
  • In 2002, we started this fundraising with a "5K Walk/Run Event".
  • In March 2003, we added the Classic Car Show to our Walk/Run event.
  • In September 2003, we started our annual Golf tournament.
  • In March 2004, we started our first "officially sanctioned" 5K Walk/Run, hosted by the Manasota Track Club. (This is not an annual event…yet)
  • In April 2006, we will have our fourth Classic Car Show. This will be the second time we're holding it at Centennial Park in downtown Venice, Florida. In 2005 there were 101 registered cars at the show.
